Death Valley_2023-Day 7
Well, here we are at the Southwest LTV Roadrunners Rally in Las Vegas! Our first full day was full of seminars and can I say, “drinking from a fire hydrant”? So much information. We learned a lot, and also learned that we have so much more to learn. Our first 3 hours this morning was for a tech talk - basically a bunch of information about the essentials of our rigs (remember, everyone here has a rig made by the same manufacturer, just maybe a different floorplan and/or chassis). Topics of note for J were: Lithium Battery voltage thresholds, Chassis battery disconnect procedures, electrical cord hookup procedures, outlet designations for what is ‘hot’ when you are running ‘x’, generator maintenance procedures, water pressure regulator threshold management, San-E-Flush procedures (don’t ask), along with a myriad of tips from disinfecting the water faucet before hooking up, to take all of your decorative covers off of your lug nuts before taking your vehicle into any service shop (they will either lose, strip, or otherwise damage anything. Another important point is that it is supposed to get below freezing tonight. So, here is what we need to do when it will be freezing or below for at least 4 hours: unhook the water hose and make sure it has no water in it and then store it in the rig, same with the dump hose, then make sure our water heater is turned on in ECO mode, and open the cupboards under the sinks for the pipes to get some ambient heat. We are fortunate because we opted for the the lithium battery heaters and water tank heaters, so we just need to make sure and turn those on…Are you overwhelmed yet? I am swimming in procedure, worry, and hope that all goes well…
Just to backtrack a little - because of our minor mechanical difficulties in Bakersfield, we’ve made an appointment at a well-respected dealer in Las Vegas (hindsight - we wish we had brought from them) for February 14. The dealer has been in contact with the manufacturer to expedite parts for us. They are hopeful that we may only be a one day job, but it may be more. So the 15th is the earliest we will be back, but that seems unlikely. We are more hopeful for the 16th, but that may also be optimistic. I’ll keep your posted…
