Bodega Bay
Travel day! We always start off travel days with excitement and the anticipation of unknown discoveries - that’s what makes traveling so much of an adventure. Today, we started off with breakfast at a little place (Farm House Local) in downtown Larkspur - very cute town!! Then, or course, we had to go back to the Apple Store to return what J bought because it was the wrong cord !?! But, luckily, that allowed us to browse the Allbirds store (thank you Richard!) and buy some ‘baby needs some new shoes!’ Of course, that was only after Nan strayed into the Lucid dealership!! But, back to traveling, we then headed out of the city to Point Reyes National Seashore. What a wonder of nature so close to such a large metropolitan. Marshes, grasslands, sea, forests, oh my! And, what about the Tule Elk? A California sub-species of the greater North American Elk. They were almost extinct (maybe 1 of 2 left) when they were re-discovered and an effort was made to save and re-introduce them to their native habitat. Now, there are nearly 5,700 in the wild. There is an Elk Preserve at Point Reyes, I think we saw about half of the 5,700! After that highlight, we headed north to our campsite for the next several days - Porto Bodega Marina & RV Park. When we checked into the park, we asked if they were full. They were not, and other than maybe two other RVs, we had the pick of sites. That’s because it is very windy here today. Even more so than in Nipomo. Probably about 30-35 mph on average. It was a bit of a challenge to hook everything up to the RV, but we managed and we think it is beautiful here. Winds are supposed to lessen after today, so it should be a nice few days of down time…
